Five-Step Safety Assurance Process

Step Safety Assurance Process

Our Five-Level Safety Assurance Process

Safety Assurance Process

Each and every JOHNSON’S® product must pass our five-level safety assurance process.

Level 1

Safety Assurance Process

Sourcing Raw Materials

We only partner with suppliers who meet our required safety standards

  • 12 categories covered by our detailed supplier questionnaire
  • 1 year for new material to qualify for use, on average
  • 350 approximate number of manufacturers and distributors we work with

Level 2

Safety Assurance Process

Toxicology Assessment

Toxicology is about assessing the safe use of ingredients in our products with accredited toxicologists and independent safety experts

  • 15 global regulatory standards our products meet or exceed
  • 2500 raw materials in our products – and we’ve evaluated every single one
  • Ingredients without a full safety profile or without full composition are rejected

Level 3

Safety Assurance Process

Clinical Evaluation

We test specific product formulations to make sure our ingredients don’t just work, but work together and are well tolerated.

Depending on the product, we work with experts including dermatologists, ophthalmologists, pediatricians, midwives, and pediatric dermatologists to test for:

  • Skin irritation
  • Allergic reaction
  • Sunlight
  • Efficacy

Level 4

Safety Assurance Process

In-use Testing

Product safety is also about how a product is used. Before a product can be placed on shelves, we want to thoroughly understand how people will use it in their homes.

  • 74,000 volunteers in the Middle East and across the globe
  • 6-150 volunteers test each product

Level 5

Safety Assurance Process

Continual Evaluation

After testing, we speak to thousands of people about our products – consumers, scientists, and regulators

  • 10 years average product lifespan
  • 30 experts that form our Ingredient Working Group from across 12 functions
  • Our Ingredients Working Group continually monitors new scientific studies to judge whether we need to modify any of our policies and ingredient levels in every JOHNSON’S® Baby product.
